Broadcast: September 30, 1953
Added: Jul 19 2015

During the third week of July 1962, the flight of the spaceship Pegasus II launched on its first trip to the moon. The story begins in the take off area of the Pegasus, with Howard Culver commentating on the preparations for the launch, before interviewing the two astronauts Pete Schwartz and Dick Friend about what they expect to find on the moon. The trip is 249,000 miles, and including landing on the moon, the entire trip will only take five days, with four hours of actual time on the moon.
