Detective Danny Clover is called to the Dover Hotel to attend to a man who is drunk in his hotel room. The man tells Clover that he is John Lomax, a man who was killed in a hit and run and buried last week. John Lomax tells Clover that he hasn't gone home as he thinks his wife is glad that he is "dead". Danny Clover begins his investigation but the next time Danny Clover goes to the hotel to see John Lomax someone has murdered him by throwing him out of his room window.
