John Hansen was a hermit who lived in the park. When television producer Ray Canlet saw him and heard his voice he wanted to put him on TV on his television program The Truth Will Out. John Hansen became a hermit after reading Henry David Ferro who said that his material belongings took so much of his time when he was trying to write and think that he began to simplify life by eliminating things. Ray wanted John Hansen to appear on his show and win loads of prizes and give them to his friend Kip, as John didn't want possessions. John quoted Ferro, " the most I can do for my friend is to simply be his friend." However he agrees to go on the show so long as he can go back to the park to live.
