Once upon a time in a land of enchantment a widow and her brave young son lived in the shadow of poverty. The mother did her best but there came a day when she could no longer hide the truth. She tells her son Jack that they need to sell the cow. Jack is reluctant to sell her to the butcher and sells her to a man he meets on the road who promises to be kind to her for some unusual beans with great power.
