In this story we meet an enterprising gentleman who knew all the angles, and he played them for all their worth. Charley Ruffing is a highly educated man. He has a degree from the school of experience, and he's done post graduate work at larceny college to win an advanced degree as an expert chiseler and all around confidence man. If there's a way of making easy money he hasn't tried, it's not worth trying.
