Irma tells Jane that My Clyde has given her a ten dollar raise starting from Saturday. She says he's had a good year because Irma has broken less and he hasn't been sued as much on account of her improvement in taking dictation! Irma is keen to spend the raise in advance on a clothes dryer, but Jane thinks they should wait until Saturday so they can be sure she's got it right.
