Victor Hammersmith is a butler to the wealthy and reclusive Mr & Mrs Cromwell. He has a plan to hire a new maid, Angela, who resembles Mrs Cromwell as he himself bares a striking resemblance to Mr Cromwell. He intends with the help of  Angela to murder the Cromwell's and take their life, their mansion and wealth. However he was not the first person to have this idea.
