On the fateful day of August 4th in year 1914 the first soldiers of the imperial German army marched across the frontier in to Belgium. By midnight the whole of Europe had been engulfed in earth shattering catastrophe. But unnoticed in the heroic turmoil of those catastrophic days a woman little known to her fellow countrymen had left her peaceful English home for Belgium, Miss Edith Louisa Cavel. It was a little over a year after arrival in Belgium that Edith Cavel a British Nurse stood motionless before a court martial accused of being a spy by the Germans.
