Even though she had been hit by a bull Miss Larkin feels good enough to get up and get on with her chores but the Doc won’t let her. Miss Larkin then tells Matt that she’s fine and things have been great since her hired ranch help Lonny came five months ago apart from a couple of other little accidents. Matt Dillon can’t help feeling that Miss Larkin is using Lonny as a substitute for her dead son and is worried about Lonny’s intentions especially as he doesn’t trust Lonny.
