The Idol Murder Case began before there was a murder. It seems that several people who among them Maurice Abbott an art dealer and Enid Carter wanted the Bonjee, a native idol supposed to be copper but which actually is gold. Philo Vance reasoned it was gold and subsequent tests proved him right. After Miss Carter was found dead two men were seen fleeing from the museum and Vance announced that he would produce them despite the fact that he hadn’t even seen them.
