Things just keep on going from bad to worse for Martin Wheeler. He has a jealous wife with no good reason until on the way to his bowling Martin helps a woman named Susan who has sprained her ankle by giving her a lift home. She makes a pass at him then her husband catches them in a kissing embrace and a tussle ensues which culminates in Wheeler accidentally shooting him dead. He flees the scene leaving Susan and her dead husband but his wallet has fallen out of his pocket so she tracks him down. But worse than dealing with her blackmailing he has to deal with his jealous wife.
