It's the year 1924, and Bill Stern opens our story begins at the Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois. The Fighting Illini are taking on the Michigan Wolverines, but the main story is about their 53 year old coach, sitting in the stands, Fielding Harris Yost, who, during his 25 seasons as the head football coach at Ann Arbor, won six national championships, captured ten Big Ten Conference titles, and amassed a record of 165–29–10.
