Margaret was very happy to be living in this house in the country, which they were renting from the banker in the town. It had belonged to a member of his family who had gone away. It’s eight o’clock and Paul had better hurry if he’s going to get to the office on time. Margaret reminded him to turn the lights off before he comes up to bed as he had left three lights on in the living room last night though Paul was adamant that he had not. Then when the milkman and a neighbor tell them that the house is haunted Margaret cannot believe that such a lovely house could be haunted.
