Del Bragen and his men are about to lynch a man named Jessie Hyatt who they caught with two of his best horses and whom he accuses of being a horse thief. Matt tells Bragen they have laws in Dodge and he takes Hyatt to jail. When Hyatt comes to in jail he tells Matt that he bought the horses fair and honest and is no horse thief.
