Mary was in England until after VE day when she was transferred to Paris, that’s where she met Stefan. Stefan had left Austria in 1938 when Hitler invaded and went to France and joined the French Army but he had been captured and had been a prisoner in Germany for four years before his release and return to Paris. Now married they were planning to return to Austria to Stefan’s birthplace where his family had lived for 200 years before all perishing in the war.
