This is the story of how radio first came in to being and includes the story of the first scheduled radio broadcast of the presidential election returns on November 2, 1920, which continued intermittently throughout the night as the results were received. The nominees were Warren G. Harding and Calvin Coolidge for the Republicans, and James M. Cox and Franklin D. Roosevelt for the Democrats.
