The sliver of light on the eastern horizon throws a soft on the rocket patrol cruiser Polaris as it stands at its launching base on the space academy ground. Inside the gleaming space ship the three cadet members of its crew, Tom Corbett, Roger Manning and Astro are going through the routine of a pre blast off check when a bulletin comes in on the facsimile regarding the Hijack of a cargo freighter containing a precious alloy.
