It is the year 1780 during the war for independence. In their cabin in the wilderness of Waxhaw County in North Carolina Elizabeth Jackson and her sons stand tensely, anxiously. One of the sons is Andrew, later to be known as Old Hickory, 7th president of the United States but right now an excited boy of thirteen as he listens to the bang on the door from the bushwhackers.
