Dupont present Texas Day for the Cavalcade of America and the reason is that on June 6th the people of Texas opened their Centennial Exposition in Dallas. In 1936 the state of Texas was celebrating 100 years of independence and nearly 6 million Texans extended their hospitality to millions of visitors.

“100 years ago Texas wrested her freedom from Mexico and became a free and independent republic and the Cavalcade of America salutes the people of Texas. As a tribute to their achievements presents historic scenes of the life of a man who more than any other deserves the name which a grateful posterity has bestowed upon “Father of Texas, Steven Austin.”
