In the development of her great national resources America has been fortunate in finding strong and hardy workers. Here are two stories of notable achievement; the first begins on a night in the spring of 1842 at a lumber camp beside a remote stream in northern Minnesota.
Lumber was one of the first basic needs of America but as the years passed other vast riches were discovered especially petroleum deposits. It is 1898 a few miles from the town of Beaumont Texas Captain Anthony Lewis of Washington is talking with George Hammel of Texas.
