Gregory Peck reprises his 1950 film role as Jimmy Ringo a notorious gunfighter who at the age of thirty-six is ready to change his ways and goes to Cheyenne to find his true love and young son who he has not seen for eight years. Ringo doesn't want to run in to trouble but there is always someone who wants to prove himself and be the man to kill the fastest gun in the west, Jimmy Ringo. Passing through a small town, in a bar a young upstart provokes him and draws his gun on him. Ringo has witnesses that he didn't draw first but the dead cowboy has three brothers who won't care that Ringo didn't draw first.
