Roland Fletcher found an agony column ad in Barbara Faversham's flat concerning her father. It promised information if she'd keep a certain appointment. Recklessly she obeyed and Fletcher fearing the worse set off with Charlie Austin hoping to catch up with her. The trail started with a coffee store on the embankment and there he learned that she'd bought a lot of toothpick quills from the coffee store keeper. Quills of course immediately associated in his mind with feathers and so he knew that she was not altogether satisfied in her mind and was leaving a trail for the Grey Goose to find her...
