It was the 4th July 1944 in Normandy, and the fireworks had been popping alright... Only these fireworks weren't for fun! The sky rockets turned out to be mortars, and the roman candles were 105s that screamed overhead on their way to a Nazi target. One tank commander decides to go through a hedgerow to push forward the front line, but is attacked immediately. During this period of the most intense hedgerow fighting, an imaginative tank commander comes with the idea to eliminate the Normandy hedgerows as a tank obstacle - an idea that made possible the great breakthrough from the Normandy beachheads.
