The 1936 Lux radio Theater presentation of The Gold Diggers stars Joan Blondell and Dick Powell in their first appearance together after becoming Mr & Mrs Dick Ewing Powell. Powell stars as songwriter Brad Roberts and Joan Blondell as show girl Carol King the same roles they played in the Warner Brother’s Films. This production combines the story of The Gold Diggers of 1933 and the music of The Gold Diggers of 1937 (released in 1936).
