Johnny Dollar had known Glen English since 1947, the girl he married longer than that. In 1949 after studying under the GI Bill Glen turned in his private operators licence and opened his own law office. Since then Johnny Dollar called on him when he needed something and Glen called on him so it wasn't unusual that Glen had called Johnny at ten thirty the night before he read of his death. Glen had told Johnny that he had some evidence he wanted to protect, a statement and he asked if Johnny could get it Photostatted for him in the morning. He was going to tell him about it either that night or in the morning but he never made it. Johnny is determined to find out why and who killed his friend Glen English.
