Ginger Rogers & Burl Ives

Ginger Rogers & Burl Ives

Broadcast: March 7, 1946
Added: Mar 08 2015
Ken Carpenter is the announcer of tonight's Command Performance, and he begins by introducing the Mistress of Ceremonies, Ginger Rogers. He's got a whole heap of mail for Ginger to open, so beginning with the first letter, it's from Private Tom Dingleberry, and it sounds like he's made a cheeky request. On to the next, and it's from Corporal Tom Dingleberry! Then yes, you guessed it - the third is from Lieutenant Tom Dingleberry - and none of them are suitable for radio ears!
However, moving on from Tom, Ginger finds that there is a lot of mail requesting the popular female singer, Kay Starr, who she introduces to the show, and who sings Honeysuckle Rose. The next guest, Burl Ives, is introduced and sings On Top Of Old Smokey, The Dummy Line, and Blue Tail Fly.
