Danny Clover and Detective Muggavan are in Central Park, where a man has been found beaten to death. There's no identification on him, and after several unsuccessful viewings at the morgue the next morning to try and identify the man, at around noon, they finally get a name. His name is Frankie Spain, a tennis bum, and his friend is Paul Gray.
