Mike Hammer meets a dame on a train called Faye Durando holding close to her a large case. When he goes to her compartment the Faye Duranndo that greets him is not the same woman and his curiosity is aroused. As Hammer leaves her apartment he hears a gunshot and goes back to find her dead. When he gets back to his roomette he finds the case and opens it to discover a huge amount of money and behind him the original Faye Durando with a pistol pointed at him, she tells him there is no need to count the money it contains $100,000.
