Max Sanders and Danny Stratford have agreed to be friends - or at least appear to be friends for Mary and Phyllis' sake. Danny blames Max for Phyllis being an invalid - saying that it was the cause of Max's activities with the gambling syndicate, while Phyllis was looking after the store, which caused her present condition.
