Yesterday we left a most dramatic situation. Doctor Benson had just told Max Tilley that he was pretty sure he knew what was the cause of Mary's violent illness - and he revealed that cause to be poison! But the how and why it happened he didn't say... We don't know what effect the news has had on Max. We can believe, however, that in view of Max's distracted condition over Mary's illness, this news was not very encouraging...
