The Lone Ranger and his faithful Indian companion, Tonto, were following a trail west of the town of Springdale when they drew their great horses to a halt beside the ashes of a campfire. The ashes were around 8-10 hours old, which even on foot means that the man they are following will have reached town before they can catch up to him. The real puzzle though, is who the sole rider is who is following the man on foot, but staying a good distance behind so as not to be discovered...
