First produced as a play after World War I, and as a film in 1924, The Enchanted Cottage is about the illusion of beauty and the moral courage which was mutually found by a girl and a maimed war veteran when they view each other through the eyes of love. It is a theme which is quite as appealing and heart wrenching today as it was back then.
