Her late husband had given Mrs. Van Laden precious emerald and she suspects that one of her house servants is planning to steal it. She devises a plan to put the emerald in a fish bowl where it can be seen clearly by all and the perpetrator would be found with wet hands. She wants Blackstone the famous magician detective to protect the emerald.
