The story begins with the committing of a murder and the arrest of the accused James Murray. Steve Russell is the eleventh juror assigned to the trial the people versus James Murray. The jury has been out for two days and every ballot they’ve taken has had the same result, eleven to one a guilty verdict. Steve is the one, the hold out and by now his fellow jury men are crying to go home and beginning to hate him, hate him because he won’t change his verdict and hang an innocent man.
