Edith Wilder had worked very hard to get what she wanted out of life, a successful marriage, a husband who was highly respected in the community and now by one of her foolish whims her own sister threatens to destroy all that . She had been missing for two days and must be found without any publicity which is why Mrs Wilder was calling upon George Valentine rather than the police.
