The Lone Ranger and his faithful Indian companion Tonto were headed towards Cottonwood. Their destination was not the town itself, but a tiny cottage about a mile from the outskirts. As they drew near, they cut away from the trail and approached the cottage from the rear. The widow living their hadn't had much luck since her husband had died and left her penniless, and in bad health. On top of all of that, she had too much pride to let people know how poor she was, and almost starved to death before Sam Otis found out about her.
