Twenty three year old Dwight Beard is wanted for murder after murdering someone while robbing him of his money. He escapes and under the pseudonym Donald Haines he joined a golf club and wormed his way into St Paul, Minnesota society and within a week he was playing golf with some of the clubs wealthiest men and became a guest in some of the cities wealthiest homes setting the stage for him and his partner Wilson, who acts as his butler, to commit their crime.
