Wendell Niles opens the show by introducing Donna Reed as the Mistress of Ceremonies. Garry Moore soon joins the two, in a sketch where he is posing as a student who will show her around the campus. The first song of the evening is California Sunbeams, performed unusually late in the show, and sung by the beautiful Connie Haines.
