When her husband Torvald was ill and they needed money Nora borrowed some money so they could spend the winter in Italy. She had got the money by signing her father’s name as guarantor as he was too ill to do it and she did not want to worry him with her problem. Her husband has high morals and she was afraid if he should ever find out about what she had done. But years later when it becomes inevitable that he will, she believes that his love for her will mean that he will support her through his love and honor. However she is shocked at his reaction and realises that all these years she has been living like his little doll.
