George Arliss plays the part of Prime Minister of Great Britain Benjamin Disraeli and his real life wife Florence Arliss stars as Disraeli’s wife known as Lady Mary Beaconsfield. They play the same roles that they acted int eh 1929 film Disraeli set in the year 1875. Benjamin Disraeli wants to purchase the Suez Canal (referred to as an Egyptian Ditch by the bank manager) as it is the high road to India and he needs to acquire it for Great Britain before the Russians see the slightest scheme on his part and snap it up.
