Our story begins in that part of the Caribbean Sea known as the great Bahama Bank, which lies north of Cuba. In the calm, sparkling sea are two ships, a British destroyer and a small schooner. The schooner is a derelict and barely afloat. There's great activity aboard the destroyer as its long boat returns from the schooner. A few moments later Chief Petty Officer Warren reports to the Captain of the destroyer.
