A copper colored sun beat down on the Lone Ranger and Tonto as they guided their horses at a slow pace toward the distant town of Cactus Gap. They followed no trail, and the country through which they had just passed was a rock strewn desert where cactus and sage brush were the only vegetation, and they had only chosen this route because it was a short cut to their destination...
