Tommy is a private investigator who has a habit of playing both sides of the fence. His indiscriminate choice of cases has never caused him problems until he comes up against Lou Cromwell. After helping to put away Maxy Dunn, Cromwell's right hand man, Tommy had gone on a well-earned vacation. On returning he is greeted with a death threat from Cromwell who tells Tommy that he has just seven days to live.
