Charlie Slade is suffering from advanced leukaemia and could die at any time. He tells his doctor that he is going to live each day as though it were his last day on earth which it may well be. It was as though he was smelling and seeing for the first time each of his sensations were heightened and he appreciates all that is good in his life and discovers that he has been too busy to live.
