It was early evening and Peter Woods a young lawyer was in his apartment getting dressed for his appointment with Hilda Ryan, his fiancée. He was not expecting a phone call but when it came he answered it as if it meant nothing at all. He was feeling very lucky to be offered $5000 to work on a case but his fiancée was rightly suspicious of the deal.
