The dangerous duties as United States Marshall led Wild Bill Hickok and his Deputy Jingles in search of outlaws. But there were routine duties too; one of these was to escort a mail stage from Cottonwood Springs to Bear River. It was easy enough to start with but before they were through there was excitement aplenty as they ran in to death at sunset trail.
