Carol Carson calls Johnny Dollar very early in the morning at his hotel in New York from the apartment of Everett Reed. She is afraid that she may have just killed Reed but she cannot remember what has happened, all that she knows is that she left the apartment a little before 11.30 and when she returned later everything was hazy and she passed out. When she came to Reed was dead and there was a gun nearby.
