This is a story told by a man who is already dead. You'll have to accept that fact since none of us can really change it. He is a haunted man, haunted by a dreadful memory that we can't imagine yet, which accounts for the fact that he is restless and will not stay decently quiet in the grave. Maybe it has something to do with the manner of his going, possibly we'll find out the whole story, if we just listen to him, as we're about to do now...
