Bessie and Otto have lived in the Brooklyn neighborhood for 20 years and earned a living from the shop. Now Bessie is complaining that the neighborhood isn’t what it used to be, that the new people moving to the area are not the same when a scream for help penetrates the air. Otto wants to investigate and help but Bessie tells him not to interfere however Otto cannot sleep listening to someone obviously being harmed.
