Always, people ask me, 'what was the convent like?' and when they do, I see again those cool, grey walls, and the nuns moving silently through the corridors. That convent was my home, and the nuns were my mothers, family, everything to me, but there was one who was more than all of the others, Sister Joanna of the Cross. She was the one who had found me, when I was left on the convent steps at just a few weeks old. But that was such a long time ago now, before I met Antonio and set out for a new life outside the convent walls, in the big, wide world.
